Hi, I’m Sarah.

I'm an American living in London. My debut novel, All the Other Mothers Hate Me, was published in 2025 by Putnam in the US and 4th Estate in the UK. It was translated into 15 languages, optioned for TV and nominated for an Edgar Award for Best First Novel.

Before all my wildest dreams came true, I was a broadcast journalist. You might have seen me reporting for NBC News in Iceland or Indonesia, or anchoring a live news program for Deutsche Welle TV in Berlin. I don’t do much on-air reporting anymore, but I still own a lot of jewel-toned blazers. ( My news anchor bob is gone though. 🪦 R.I.P. news bob. )

My favorite movie is Clueless, my coffee order is a black americano, and I have never voluntarily done a software update on my phone.

I am currently hunched over my laptop working on Book 2. I’ve had to get off Instagram to get work done, but you can still subscribe to my newsletter, Cautiously Optimistic. It’s a free round-up of the best stuff I’ve read, watched and listened to. Or it would be. If I actually managed to write it. One day I might though!
